Aviation's Cleaner Energy Transition.

Eco Toolkit Cleaner Energies at Airports

Aviation cleaner energy is a cornerstone to decarbonize the international aviation sector, given its hard-to-abate nature. In 2022, the ICAO Assembly adopted a Long-Term Global Aspirational Goal (LTAG) for international aviation to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) were identified as having the greatest potential to achieve LTAG. In 2023, ICAO adopted the Global Framework for SAF, Lower Carbon Aviation Fuels (LCAF), and other cleaner energies, including a collective global aspirational Vision to reduce CO₂ emissions by 5% by 2030 through their use. Significant progress has been made under the four Building Blocks of the ICAO Global Framework, which is detailed in this video.
