Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation


Since the adoption of the ICAO Long-Term Aspirational Goal (LTAG) by the ICAO Assembly in 2022, significant progress has been made toward its achievement, marking an important period of action. ICAO has advanced aviation environmental protection across the basket of measures—technology, operations, cleaner aviation energies, and the complementary role of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). In addition, ICAO works closely with other UN agencies and international organizations to advance climate change adaptation, aerial forest firefighting, and biodiversity protection, thereby contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This video highlights the progress achieved in aviation environmental protection over the last triennium.
